Charlotte-Mecklenburg Instrumental Music Foundation

Who We Are

CMIMF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting instrumental music programs across Mecklenburg County. By providing essential resources, like instrument repair, student lesson grants, and equipment support, we help ensure that every student and director has what they need to succeed. Our mission is rooted in access, equity, and the belief that music education should be available to all.

Strong Programs - Inspired Students - A Community in Harmony

  • Instrument Maintenance and Repair

Our Instrument Repair & Maintenance Initiative helps ensure that all students, regardless of background, have access to functional, reliable instruments. By supporting urgent repairs and preventative maintenance, we help schools preserve their inventories and keep young musicians actively learning, rehearsing, and performing without interruption.

  • Ensembles and Outreach

We aim to sponsor district honor bands and other outreach programs that provide students with enriching musical experiences beyond the classroom. By funding participation fees, and guest clinicians, we ensure that talented young musicians across the County can access high-level performance opportunities and grow through community-wide engagement.

  • Lesson, Scholarships, and Grants

Our Private Lesson Support Program provides funding for students who may not otherwise have access to individual instruction. By helping to subsidize the cost of private lessons, we help young musicians strengthen their skills, build confidence, and pursue advanced opportunities in their school music programs and beyond.
